Obituary of Dorothy Scott

Kernersville-Dorothy (Dot) Jane Henderson Scott of Kernersville, NC was greeted by one of Heaven's Angels and went to be with her sweet Jesus on Thursday, April 12, 2012 in the afternoon. She was a brave person and fought a hard battle with cancer. Her family was by her side. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 2:00PM Sunday April 15, 2012 at Colfax Baptist Church with Rev. Beauford Smith and Rev. Charles Mustian officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro. She lived in Kernersville and was born on August 26, 1938 to the late Odessa Mabery Henderson and Frank Henderson. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by a sister Peggy Tuttle. She was married on March 8, 1955 to her loving husband Rufus Scott. She was an active member of the Colfax Baptist Church. Her interest included family; she devoted her life, her time and energy to cooking and pleasing her family. She will be remembered as the glue that held her family together with love. She is survived by her husband, Rufus Scott; her children, Tom Scott and wife Donna, Larry Scott and wife Angie, Barbara McKenzie and husband Jr. all of Kernersville; grandchildren Amber Scott and Tommy, Rob Scott and wife Mary Jane, Denise Wright and husband Justin; Brian Scott and Wendy; Ben Scott and wife Brittney; Hunter Lewis and Katie, Zachary Lewis; great-grandchildren Chad and Krystle, Austin, Landon, Harper, Parker and Jackson; siblings Dot Dorsett, Steve Henderson and wife Thelma, and Eugene Henderson. She also had wonderful sister and brother-in-laws, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends that she loved. The family will visit with friends from 6-8pm Saturday evening at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home in Kernersville.
