Obituary of Neva Hilliard

Mrs. Neva Brady Hilliard, 91, of Greensboro Place, formerly of Yanceyville Street, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday February 18, 2009, surrounded by family and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday February 20, 2009 at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel by Reverend Nick Vipperman. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and also following the committal service at Westminster Gardens. Neva was born in Greensboro on January 23, 1918, the daughter of Moses Lee Brady and Curlee Childress Brady. She was a member of Greensboro Christian Church and was formerly employed with Hassinger Wholesale Company as their office manager. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Newby D. Hilliard, brothers Edgar, Charles, Jerry and Bobby Brady, sisters Letha Westmoreland and Ezlee Pinnix. Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Hilliard Kendrick (James) of Greensboro and Sue Hilliard Hicks (Greg) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren Cari Warren (Eric) of Charlotte and Nathan Hicks of Raleigh; one great-grandchild Finley Warren; sisters Vera Meadows of Wadesboro,, Christine Saunders and Beverly Brady both of Germantown, Tennessee; a brother Jimmy (Mutt) Brady of Greensboro and several nieces and nephews. Neva's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers from Home Instead and the staff of Greensboro Place and Hospice for their loving care over the last several months. A very special thanks to her friend and caregiver of many years, Christine Brown.
