GREENSBORO ' Mrs. Betty Jean Marley Brown, 78, of Greensboro, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 23, at Martin Avenue Baptist Church by Dr. James Talbert. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park. Betty was born in Chatham County on July 13, 1930. She was a Registered Nurse and was formerly employed at Moses Cone Hospital. Betty was a member of Martin Avenue Baptist Church, where she was very active, serving in the choir, teaching Sunday school and working with various mission activities. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Linton Brown, and a son, Gary Brown. Surviving are her daughter Linda Brown Berry (Michael), of Charlotte, N.C.; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Tyler Berry of Charlotte and Kristan Brown Berry of Cullowhee; one brother, Robert Marley of Burlington; five special sisters-in-law, Mildred Carter, Estella Ham, Edith Coble, Vina Chandler and Gracie Brown, all of Greensboro; a brother-in-law, Bill Brown, of Greensboro and her devoted family, Billie Comer, Debbie Leavell, Edna Williams and Shirley Hilliard. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Service. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Martin Avenue Baptist Church family for all their love and support over the years.
