Obituary of Nell Robinson

GREENSBORO ' Mrs. Nell Byers Robinson, 88, of Greensboro Place, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, after a lingering illness. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 20, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jesse Bledsoe officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Mrs. Robinson was born in Guilford County July 28, 1920, to Dalton W. and Annie Hicks Byers. She attended Guilford County Public Schools and Greensboro Business School. Mrs. Robinson was employed at Meyers Department Store and later became Cafeteria Manager of McIver School, where she loved working with the children. She was a faithful member of Hope View Presbyterian Church and later on in life Buffalo Presbyterian Church, where she especially enjoyed her Buffalo Women's Circle and supporting the youth ministry. She loved growing wonderful gardens of flowers and veggies to share with everyone; any visitor to the home was always welcomed and enjoyed her hospitality. She enjoyed quilting, reading, watching her old favorite TV shows, dancing and singing, and she was a gifted storyteller. Mrs. Robinson loved spending time with her family, and especially her grandchildren, and was always ready for the next adventure. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband, Loyd N. Robinson; a son, William Baxter Robinson, and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are one daughter, Laura Morris and husband, Charles, of Owensboro, Ky.; three sons, Loyd N. "Robbie" Robinson, Jr. and wife, Vickye, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Hal Robinson and wife, Saborah, of Elkin, N.C., and Stephen "Smokey" Robinson, of McLeansville; grandchildren, John Mark Morris, Anne Marie Morris, Bradley Morris, Richard "Rick" Baxter Robinson, William Russell "Rusty" Robinson, William Christopher Robinson, and Abbye R. Blackwelder and husband, Aaron; great- grandchildren, Zach Morris, Leah Robinson, Maggie Robinson, Shelby Robinson, Addison Blackwelder, Baxter Robinson and Zoey Morris; a sister, Evelyn Kivett; and three very special friends and caregivers, her niece Frankie Leonard, and Deridder Case and Aaron Blackwelder. The Robinson family wishes to extend a thank you to the Liberty Home Hospice Care and Greensboro Place nurses and staff for the extreme care and love they effortlessly gave. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. tonight, Sunday, at Lambeth- Troxler Funeral Home.
