Joan Honeycutt

Obituary of Joan Phyllis Honeycutt

Joan Phyllis Honeycutt passed away peacefully at her home in Winston-Salem on May 31, 2023.

Born in Bakersville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Virginia Wilson and the wife of the late W.G Honeycutt.

Joan is survived by her sons, Greg Honeycutt (Eden), Randy Honeycutt, and Jeffrey Honeycutt; grandchildren, Philip (Jennifer), and Jimmy; and great grandchildren, Addison and Kaide.

Joan was a wonderful caregiver who took care of son Jeffrey from his car accident in 1977 that caused multiple disabilities until her stage IV cancer began to take its toll. She continuously searched for resources, programs and any activity that might benefit Jeff.

She loved her days at the YWCA where she met many new friends. Joan had a green thumb and loved growing and taking care of her flowers and plants.

Joan was a charter member of Union Cross Baptist Church in Kernersville. She loved her Church and her church family.

The Family would like to thank Mary Bennett and Distinguished Senior Services for providing loving care for over 3 years. A special thanks to caregivers Pat, Tina, Lisa, and George Anne. Also, thanks to Trellis Supportive Hospice Care who took care of Joan’s medical needs and supportive care in the final weeks of her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 1:00pm at Union Cross Baptist Church.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Union Cross Baptist Church, 4350 High Point Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.
