Obituary of Mildred Kay Gilley George

Ms. Mildred Kay Gilley George, 79, of Kernersville, NC passed away peacefully Sunday, May 28, 2023.

A native of Mount Airy, NC, Mildred was the daughter of Edgar James Gilley and Octavia Harris Gilley, both deceased. Mildred was employed with Spencer's of Mount Airy for over 20 years. She later persued other occupations and eventually retired as a customer service representative in the automotive service industry. Mildred's passion was truly her family and friends that she loved dearly. Her enthusiasm for life and generous, loving spirit will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her three brothers, Calvin Gilley, Wade Gilley, and John Gilley; and four sisters, Helen Gilley Collins, Peggy Gilley Ward, Nellie Gilley Hunter, and Inez Gilley Simmons.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Tim Vestal of Kernersville, NC; her son, Shane Forrest of Kernersville, NC; five grandchildren, Courtney Bumgardner and husband, Corey of Mount Airy, NC, Kyle Forrest and wife, Autumn of Stokesdale, NC, Tori Vestal of Greensboro, NC, Josh Vestal and wife, Maddie of Driggs, ID, and Chris Vestal and wife, Kara of Kernersville, NC; four great grandchildren, Grayson Lasley, Tucker Bumgardner, Lilah Vestal, and Flynn Vestal; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Eastlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum, Kernersville, NC. The family will greet friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
