Obituary of Frederick Eugene "Fred" Burgess, Jr.

Frederick Eugene Burgess, Jr., 62 of Winston Salem, NC passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, February 23, 2023. 

Fred was the husband of Charlene Lee Burgess and the son of Frederick Eugene Burgess, Sr., and Patricia Keicher Logan (Larry).

Fred was born on January 23, 1961, in Forsyth County.  He was a machinist at Penn Engineering and a mechanic at the Walkertown Lube.  For parts of his life, he unfortunately fought the demons of addiction, but in the past six years he and his family were very proud of his daily determination to remain clean and sober.  In his free time, Fred enjoyed studying his Bible, drawing, riding his Harley Davidson, watching NASCAR, and motor cross.

Left to cherish his memories include his wife of 40 years, Charlene; son, Cole Burgess (Anna); daughter, Ashley Burgess Flynn (Josh); grandchildren, Cooper and Avery Flynn; mother, Patricia Keicher Logan; sisters, Kim Stevens (Harmon), Angie Burgess (Austin, Maddie and Abby), and Victoria Burgess Sawyer (Brett, Sydney and Braedy); and nephew, Talon Bolynn (Joy).

Fred was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Eugene Burgess, Sr; grandmothers, Helen Kiger Burgess and Christeen Boone Keicher; grandfathers, Walter C. Burgess and Bearlin Keicher.

The family will greet friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Tuesday, February 28^th, 2023 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel.
