Obituary of Billy Dean Gordon

Billy Dean Gordon passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family February 1, 2023.

Dean was born in Gaffney, SC on July 5, 1952 to the late Paul Lee and Catherine Childers Gordon. Very active in sports while attending Blacksburg High School, Dean graduated class of 1970. He was employed with Overnite Transportation for 30 years starting as a dock worker at a young age and ending his career as Terminal Manager at several east coast locations. A Volunteer Fireman with the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department for many years, Dean took great pride in his association with the BVFD and helping his community. In his senior years, Dean enjoyed watching sports and following his favorite teams.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Joe Gordon, and Steven Paul Gordon; second wife, Deborah Gordon; and first wife and mother of his children, Beverly Walker Durham.

Dean is survived by his wife of 27 years Darlene Gordon and one daughter Abby-Michelle Gordon of the home in Walkertown, North Carolina; one brother, Tim Gordon and wife, Ann of Blacksburg, South Carolina; one son, Michael Dean Gordon and one grandson Dillon Michael Gordon of South Carolina; several special nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 2:00pm at Gordon Mortuary, located at 400 West Cherokee St., Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. The family will receive friends immediately following.
