Obituary of Norma May Chilton

Norma May Chilton, 94, passed away on December 29, 2022.  She was born October 31, 1928 to the late Bon T. and Myrtle May. She lived in Greensboro almost her entire life and retired as a Taxpayer Service Representative at the IRS after many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Rick Chilton; her daughter, Teri Sutton; and son-in-law, John Sutton of Wilmington. She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Randy) of Walnut Cove; son, Chris (Teresa) of Greensboro; grandson, Matt Sutton of Wilmington; sister, Mary Louise York of Greensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Norma loved gardening, cooking, and most of all her family. She loved having a Halloween Birthday to share with her friends. She was a graceful, strong, independent woman, and a role model for all who knew her. The family wishes to thank all her caregivers, especially Alicia, Meiko, and Teresa.

The family will receive friends at Pierce-Jefferson Lambeth Chapel on Friday, January 6th from 10am – 11am. Funeral services will follow at 11am with Rev. Don Martin officiating. Interment will be at Guilford Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Hospice or a charity of their choice.
