Obituary of Mary Jane Amburgey Phillips

Mary Jane Amburgey Phillips, 87, of Kernersville, NC passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

A native of Russell County, VA, Mary was the daughter of Jake Nelson Amburgey and Elsie Mae Justice Amburgey, both deceased. Mary loved gardening and spending time with her beloved family. Mary was a faithful reader of God’s Word. She loved her family and friends and will be missed by all that knew her.

Survivors include her daughters, Diane Phillips King and Becky Phillips Sapp; three grandchildren, Jeana Mae King, Benjamin Neil Sapp, and Samuel David Sapp and wife, Lauren; five great grandchildren, Erin, Cobra, Suki, Freya, and Juniper; sister, Nancy Mullins; and brother, David Amburgey and wife, Fran.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her grandson, Steven Harold King; sister, June Amburgey; and two brothers, Jake Nelson “Bobby” Amburgey, Jr., and Jimmy Amburgey.

Graveside funeral services celebrating her life will be held 2:30PM Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Mt. Gur Cemetery, Kernersville, NC. The family will greet friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Tuesday at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel.
