Obituary of Edward David Atkins

Edward David Atkins, 85, of Kernersville, NC passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 3, 2022.

A native of Welch, WV, Edward was the husband of 60 years to Leona Mae Osborne Atkins and the son of Walter Edward Atkins and Vida Lewis Cowan Atkins, both deceased. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Leona of the home; son, David Kevin Atkins and wife, Lisa of Walkertown, NC; daughter, Kathy Kirby and husband, Joe of Bristol, TN; six grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his son, Brian Keith Atkins; and a great granddaughter, Faith Anne.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held 2:00PM Monday, August 8, 2022 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery, Kernersville, NC. The family will greet friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
