Obituary of Malcolm Andrew "Andy" McIntyre

On Monday, April 18, 2022, Malcolm Andrew “Andy” McIntyre, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away at the age of 81.

 

Andy was born on June 13, 1940, in Cincinnati, OH to the late Malcolm Thomas McIntyre and Ellen R. Speer McIntyre.  For the most part he grew up and graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1957, where he was the school mascot. In 1969-70 he attended West Palm Beach Community College. In 1964 he graduated with a college degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Institute of Technology (a.k.a. Kennesaw State University).

 

Andy worked in the Textile Manufacturing Industry for over 48 years as an engineer, manager, executive and consultant with companies including Lee Jeans, Fruit of the Loom, Hanes, and Gitano, moving often where work led until Andy and Mary settled in Kernersville 21 years ago.  He enjoyed long-distance running, fishing, Nascar, College Football, yard work and used his handy-man skills for years at The Summit Church. 

 

Andy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; sister, Barbara Kellem; children, Todd McIntyre (Glynis), Kendra Bailey (Branden), and Brad McIntyre (Trey); grandchildren, Christian McIntyre (Danelle), Makenna Limon (Ryan), Jonah Bailey, Nathan Bailey, Morgan Bailey, Georgia McIntyre, and Landon McIntyre; great-granddaughter, Ellanora Grace McIntyre; and other family and friends.

 

A celebration of his life will be held Friday, April 22nd, at 2:00 pm at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel with Pastors Ike Patterson and David Terriaco officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service on Friday at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The American Cancer Society and The Summit Church, 4440 High Point Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.
