David Rominger posted a condolence

Dear family,
I am sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. I worked for Jim, in another lifetime back in the 80's. To this day, I know he was the best boss I ever had. He taught me more than how to wax or finish a set of dentures. His life lessons live within me to this day. Some how, I believe his corny jokes and sense of humor rubbed off on me as well.
May you all reflect on the many fond memories you must have of him and smile often when you think of him. He was proud of you all.
Fondly,
David Rominger

Although our lives will never be the same, Jim would have never wanted us to linger in his death too long. Move forward in your own life and enjoy every minute you have on this earth as he did. Just think of him in a moment when you can. Drop a Nickle in a slot machine and think of him. Look across a body of water and think of all the times he has dropped a line hoping for a nibble on the other end.
Do not mourn his death, let's celebrate his new life with the Lord where his broken body is healed and his earthly suffering is no longer. He walks along with so many others that have left him behind, He will be looking forward to the time when we shall meet again but not before our time.
Daddy was the most understanding and funny man. Even when he would discipline us he would find a way to do it while giving us the right amount of teaching along with some laughter to take along. One thing I remember and have used in the past is if we left out shoes in the middle of the floor he would take at least one and hide it for weeks. Causing us to miss our favorite pair. Jackets and items that should be put away same thing. He would giggle as we missed these items and promised not to leave them out again.
I will miss him but he will remain alive in my heart forever.

He was a loving man, adored his wife every step of the way. He went and loved to be at church, donated all his crocheting things like scarves and afghans to them. Retired Master Sargent of the Air Force. Also a fishing man- Deep seas of the beach or a pond, he enjoyed it. He would spend time at Crisis Control volunteering. Also as a member of the Moose Lodge we enjoyed countless celebrations with our extended family there, mainly at Christmas. What I’ll miss the most are his jokes. He was quite the jokester and always had the slyest and coolest dad jokes. He’s also the only person who could somehow fool me with pulling something out from behind my ear every single time like magic.
I have so many wonderful memories of him and I’m so thankful for all the time we had together. He lived 88 amazing fulfilling years.
I love you and will miss ya always!! Rest easy in Heaven grandpa Jim.
