James “Jimmy” Alvin DeMoss Sr., 72, of Kernersville passed away Friday, January 21, 2022, at Kernersville Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. 

Jimmy was born on July 21, 1949, in Ridgeway, Virginia to the late Edward Ray DeMoss and late Elsie Lee Roberts DeMoss. He graduated from High Point Central High School.  Jimmy spent the majority of his working career as a commercial and residential painter.  After retiring from painting, he was an employee of VIP Express Mail Services until his death.  He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.  Jimmy loved landscaping his yard and tending to his koi ponds.  He enjoyed shopping at antique stores and looking for treasures to add to his many collections. He also enjoyed traveling to the beach and mountains with his wife of 52 years. Jimmy’s life was centered and based around his love of the Lord from the time he was a little boy to the time of his death.  Most of all he loved and supported his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Bonnie Catherine Taylor DeMoss, sons James Alvin DeMoss Jr., Jefferson Ray DeMoss (Sheila), daughter Crystal MeLee DeMoss, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchild, sister Dorothy DeMoss Medford, and brother Dwayne DeMoss (Lyndsee). 

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was also preceded in death by his sister Roxie Ann DeMoss, infant brother, and mother-in-law Millie Wilkes Taylor. 

Funeral services to celebrate Jimmy's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 31, 2022, in the chapel at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the service at Mt. Gur Cemetery.
