Garson Moore, Jr.

Obituary of Garson Yale Moore, Jr.

Garson Yale Moore, Jr, aged 78, of Greensboro NC passed away peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Hospice Home at High Point.

Garson was born in Danville VA on November 15, 1943. He was the oldest of two children and graduated from high school in Danville in 1962. Garson enlisted in the National Guard during the Vietnam war and subsequently attended High Point College, where he graduated in 1972.

Garson enjoyed a long and successful career in pharmaceuticals sales, joining Mallinckrodt in 1972. He worked with the company through several mergers for over 40 years, and retired from Meda US in 2013.

Pharmaceutical sales provided the introduction to Garson’s beloved wife, Phyllis Anne Jones Moore. An avid horseback rider, Phyllis rode with a friend who worked for one of Garson’s clients and who set them up on a blind date. They were married on June 6, 1987, a date Garson chose to honor the day of his father’s decorated participation in DDay.

Garson and Phyllis were married for over 34 years and pursued many interests together. They loved cooking and entertaining, and caring for their home and garden. One of Garson’s greatest pleasures was watching the squirrels and birds from his deck in the morning while having coffee. He shared Phyllis’ passion for travel as they toured Europe and Greece, Alaska and the American West. Garson enjoyed golf and was a lifelong member of Greensboro Elks Lodge.

Garson was beloved by his family and above all cherished the time they spent together on many trips to the beaches and mountains of NC. He was a consummate storyteller who will be remembered by all who knew him for his wit and engaging stories.

Garson was preceded in death by his father and mother, Garson Yale Moore Senior and Louise Crowder Moore. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Anne Moore; his sister Brenda Kay Moore Crawford; his niece Kathy Crawford Parrett and her husband Chadd Parrett; and their children, Drake, Chandler and Tara Parrett.
