Obituary of Laura Jeanne Goad

Laura Jeanne Dible Goad was born on December 7, 1963 to Daniel and Marian “Kay” Dible of Bucyrus, Ohio. She is the youngest sibling to Daniel Dible (Ginger Dible), Kathryn Van Horn (Rick), and Edward Dible (Michele). Laura married her sweetheart, Scott Goad, on December 29, 1984. They have four children, Brian Goad (Valerie), Jonathon Goad (Rose), Bethany Rourke (Dave), and Lauran Carmichael (Dean), including a foster daughter, Karen Strauch (Aaron). She is GiGi to 13 grandchildren whom she loved, adored and taught to look to Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Laura has many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; as well as, many other friends and family that have been touched by her legacy.

After a long, hard fought battle with severely scarred lungs caused by pneumonia, which came upon her quickly and completely and left her with little ability to breathe on her own. Laura finally met Jesus face-to-face and was freed from all sickness, pain and suffering about 7pm Sunday evening, December 5th. Laura’s goal was to return to her Stokesdale home by her birthday on December 7th, but God had other plans and took her to His heavenly home; just ten weeks after her mother met Jesus face-to-face. Laura faced the last dark steps of her earthly journey with such grace, dignity and hope in Jesus that was clearly seen by those who cared for her in the hospital. Even in her last days on this earth, God still used Laura and her illness to reach others for His glory. Well done, good and faithful servant!

Laura, who made the life changing decision to allow the Lord Jesus Christ to have control of her life when she was twelve years old, had a passion for her family and helping women improve in various areas of their life. An important life lesson Laura learned at the feet of her mother, Kay, was the ability to ask the Lord to allow her to see herself, others and situations through the Eyes of Jesus Christ. This lesson was the foundation Laura embraced in her daily life which she then instilled in her children and grandchildren, and lived out before all those she encountered. Laura was purposeful and intentional in all that she did, faithfully using the wisdom God gave her to speak “life and truth” to those around her. Laura has left a powerful legacy that will continue to impact this world through the lives of her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Laura sacrificially poured her life into taking care of her family, home-schooling their children for many years, leading women’s bible studies, mentoring and counseling many, giving to those in need and ministering in numerous ways to the local church they were attending. Laura demonstrated the value and importance of family by selflessly giving of herself to regularly care for the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of her children, grandchildren, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews. Over the years, God developed her into a virtuous woman (Proverbs 31) which was clearly evident in all that she did and said.

Laura’s desire to minister to women was expanded when the Lord led her to develop the “Reflections of a Masterpiece” ministry in 2011. These seminars and publications taught women to view themselves as God’s living masterpiece, to see themselves reflected in Him, to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and to allow Him to guide their lives to impact their world for Jesus.

In lieu of flowers, our family has established the “Reflections of His Masterpiece” non-profit to continue the work of this ministry started by Laura, our beloved wife and Mom. Any funds contributed to this non-profit will be used solely for the purpose of advancing this ministry and its mission. Gifts can be sent to the “Reflections of His Masterpiece” account at Truist bank or given online at: everloved.com/life-of/laura-goad/
