Obituary of Johnie Henderson Carty, Jr.

Johnie Henderson Carty, Jr., 87, of Reidsville, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

A native of Autryville, NC, Johnie was the husband of 59 years to Carol Hinson Carty and the son of Johnie Henderson Carty, Sr. and Lanis Davis Carty, both deceased. He retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company with 38 years of service. Johnie was an avid animal and bird lover. He dedicated his life to the care of all kinds of birds, many various types of animals, and especially to his beloved dog, J.J. Johnie was a hardworking and devoted family man. He was loved by his family and friends, and will be missed by all that knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of the home; son, Johnie Henderson "John" Carty, III of Summerfield, NC; three grandchildren, Brittany Carty and husband, Jonathan Krecicki, Zachary Carty and wife, Hannah, and Brannon Carty; brother, Roy Herman Carty and wife, Lilly; and his beloved niece, Dawn Clippinger and husband, Steve, and their son, Alex.

In addition to his parents, Johnie was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Lynn Carty; and eleven siblings, Lucy Bell, Mary Evelyn, Hazel Irene, Bettie Ross, Charlie Ro, William Jasper, Macy Pauline, Agnes, Lela Mae, Bonnie Edith, and Vance Davis.

A graveside funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00PM Monday, December 13, 2021 at Lakeview Memorial Park.
